Alice Willmett (born 1882)

Alice came through Barnardo’s to Hazelbrae in Peterborough, Ontario. She sailed on the Vancouver and arrived in Quebec on August 7, 1897. In 1903, Alice moved with her placement family to Los Angeles, California. Details about the rest of Alice’s life remain unclear based on currently available sources.

Alice is the 19th person on the Canada, Incoming Passenger List. She was only 15 when she arrived in Canada. 

Alice was written about in the October 1898 edition of Ups and Downs:

“Alice Wilmet [sic] (1897). Alice has a good home in a clergyman’s family; has greatly improved and is doing well. Mr and Mrs. H are pleased with her, and have no complaints.

She was also mentioned in the April 1901 edition:

“Alice Willmot [sic] has a good home and pleasant surroundings so near to her dear brother they can meet two or three times every week, at Church, Sunday school and the Young People’s meetings. Both of them enjoy those privileges very much and are well content with their lot in life. “
