Charles Lucas (1901-1994)

Charles Lucas came through Barnardo’s to the Toronto distributing home. He sailed on the Corinthian and arrived in Quebec on October 6, 1911.

Charles' name appears fourth on the list of Uk, Ireland Outgoing Passengers List. He is listed as a labourer. 

Charles is the twenty-third passenger on the list of Incoming Passengers to Canada. He was 10 years old when he arrived in Canada. 

With the money he saved up, Charles and Lillian moved back to Courtland and he purchased the old cheese factory at the corner of highway #3 in Courtland. He turned this property into a service station and ran it for 46 years. Charles is buried in the Courtland Baptist Cemetery.

His placement was with George M. Veit (1881-1967) near Courtland, Ontario. When he went to school in Courtland, he discovered his brother, Leslie (1899-1976), at the same school. His brother had been placed on the farm of Thomas Ferris(1872-1936).
