Evelyn Greenland Herman (1898-1989)

Evelyn came through the Waifs and Strays Society to the Gibbs Home in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She sailed on the Corsican and arrived in Quebec on June 9, 1913. 

Evelyn is the eleventh person on the Canadian Incoming Passenger List; She was only 14/15 when she arrived in Canada. 

Evelyn and her brother were placed with Mr. James Reid of Lynedoch in Norfolk County. Her other brother emigrated and also worked on the Reid’s farm.

Evelyn married George Albert Herman (1898-1972) on June 10, 1918. They had many children. Evelyn and George lived for many years in Tillsonburg and are buried in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
