Wardens and Council

The exhibit features a gallery of over 100 years of County Council composite photographs from 1896 onward and the official portraits of each Warden since the county’s incorporation. The exhibit also details the life stories and achievements of the County Wardens from the very first Warden elected in 1850, to the present day.
A county Warden is head of the County Council. They are elected to the position by other members of the council. Wardens are responsible for overseeing council meeting, speaking on behalf of the county at official events etc.
A County Council is governing body made up of elected officials from the county's eight municipalities: Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Ingersoll, Norwich, South-West Oxford, Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Zorra.
