1889: James Anderson
James Anderson, East Zorra
Born in East Zorra Township in 1844, James Anderson served as Deputy Reeve in 1881, and Reeve from 1883-1892 for the Township of East Zorra. In 1889, he was elected County Warden.
He served as Inspector of the House of Refuge from 1893-1906 and in 1896, was appointed Clerk of the Township of East Zorra; a position he held until 1915. He was also connected with School Sections 16 and 9 and also worked for years as a salesman for the Anderson Cheese Factory and Woodstock Cheese Board. In addition, he was a Past President of the North Oxford Reform Association.
A lifelong farmer, James Anderson passed away at his home on Lot 16, Concession 14 East Zorra Township, on December 29, 1915. He is interned at the Woodstock Presbyterian Cemetery.
