1901 (1st ½): S.J. Cole
S.J. Cole, Woodstock
Samuel J. Cole was born on September 18, 1849 in Darlington, Ontario and would eventually settle in North Oxford Township where he manufactured lime with John Hacker under the name Cole & Hacker. Later he would move to Woodstock where he lived at 88 Riddell Street.
S.J. Cole served as 4th Deputy Reeve for the Town of Woodstock from 1891-1892 and Reeve from 1893-1894. From 1897 to 1901 he served as a County Councillor for Division No. 1 Town of Woodstock. He was elected County Warden in 1901, though on July 1st of that year the Town of Woodstock became a city and County Council appointed John Youngs of West Zorra to complete the term of office.
He would pass away on March 25, 1904 and is buried at Hillview Cemetery.
