1905: Lancelot Waller
Lancelot Waller, Dereham, Tillsonburg
Born on May 22, 1840 in South Norwich Township, Lancelot Waller was a member of the Township Council from 1891-1895. In 1896, he was appointed as Deputy Reeve for the Township. He would later move to Tillsonburg where he was first elected as County Councillor by acclamation in 1901. He would continue to serve as a County Councillor for Division No. 4 Dereham and Tillsonburg until 1906. In 1905, he was elected County Warden.
For a number of years he worked as a farmer, before he entered into an implement business in South Norwich Township. When he moved to Tillsonburg he took over the agency of the Massey Harris Co. In addition, he served as president of the South Norwich Agricultural Society and present of the Dereham and Tillsonburg Agricultural Society for a number of years.
Lancelot Waller passed away, at the age of sixty-seven, in Tillsonburg on August 22, 1907 and is buried in St. Charles Anglican Church, in the former Township of Dereham (now South-West Oxford Township).
