1916: James Pullin

   

James Pullin, West Oxford

Born in West Oxford Township in 1873, James Pullin was first elected to Township Council in 1911. He served as Reeve from 1913-1917 and was elected County Warden in 1916. In 1929, he made an unsuccessful bid for membership in the Ontario Legislature as Conservative candidate for South Oxford.

He served as a president of the Woodstock Agricultural Society for five years and served as Chairman of the Mothers Allowance Board. He also served as Secretary-Treasurer of S.S. No. 8 for twenty-five years, for which he received a gold watch for his years of service. In addition, he served on the Oxford County Cemetery Commission and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Sweaburg Cemetery.

James Pullin passed away in 1951 and is buried in Hillview Cemetery.
