1926: William Weir

  

William WeirEast Nissouri

Born in North Oxford Township in 1881, William J. Weir married Florence Yake in 1905 and in 1911, they settled on Lot 6 Concession 13, East Nissouri Township where they raised four children.

He served as Deputy Reeve from 1923-1924 and Reeve from 1925-1926 for the Township of East Nissouri was elected Warden in 1926. He was also chosen as Secretary-Treasurer of the Township from 1940-1954. Outside of politics, he was chairman of the Ingersoll District Collegiate Board, and secretary of both the Homestead Co-Operative and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 258, Thamesford.

William Weir passed away in 1954 and is buried in the Kintore Presbyterian Cemetery.
