Andrew Baxter, Dereham

Born in Brownsville on October 16, 1879, Robert Andrew Baxter attended Brownsville Public School and Tillsonburg High School. He began his political career as a Dereham Township Councillor in 1922. He served as a Councillor for five years before being elected Deputy Reeve from 1926-1927 and Reeve from 1928-1929. In 1928, he was elected County Warden. 

From 1929-1934, he served as a Liberal Member for South Oxford in the Ontario Legislature. After 1934, he was employed as an inspector on loans to farmers under the Provincial Agricultural Development Act. 

A member of the United Church in Brownsville, Andrew Baxter passed away on December 9, 1947 and is buried in the Old Delmer Cemetery.
