J.C. Eichenberg,Tillsonburg
Born in Eden, Ontario on September 3, 1902, James Clifton “Ike” Eichenberg was the proprietor of Eichenberg Motors Limited in Tillsonburg, Ontario from 1928-1971.
He served as a Tillsonburg Town Councillor and in 1943-1944 was elected Reeve. In 1944, he was elected County Warden on the 15th ballot. He served as Mayor of Tillsonburg from 1945-1946.
He served as chairman of the Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital Board, during the period when major expansion enabled the hospital to become a District facility. He also served as a past president of the Tillsonburg Golf Club, was a past member of the King Hiram Lodge A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Mocha Shrine of London, receiving his 50 year jewel in 1993. A keen interest in sports, he was pitcher of the Tillsonburg Hardball Team for over 15 years. He was also a long time member of the Eden Hunt Club and a founding member of Twin Mountain Camp.
J.C. Eichenberg passed away on April 29, 1996 in his 94th year, and is buried in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
