1957: Cecil M. Riddle

   

Cecil M. Riddle, North Oxford

A member of one of Oxford’s pioneer families, Cecil Martin Riddle was born on August 11, 1909 in North Oxford Township. He would inherit the family farm near Ingersoll and serve as President, of both the, Oxford Soil Crop Improvement Association and Beachville Milk Producers Association.

In addition, he served as a member of the Upper Thames Conservation Authority, held the position of President of the Nissouri Fire Insurance Board and was Director of the Oxford Mutual Insurance Company and the Ontario Mutual Insurance Board. He was also a member and past part of St. John’s Lodge 68, A.F. & A.M.

Cecil served as Reeve of North Oxford Township from 1955-1957, and was elected Warden in January 1957, on the 13th ballot. He passed away in his 69th year, on May 7, 1979, and is buried in the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery.
