1959: E.R. Pearce
E.R. Pearce, Tillsonburg
Edwin Reid Pearce was born in Paisley, Bruce County on March 16, 1912. He would ultimately move to Tillsonburg, Ontario where he operated a garage and motor dealership, known as Pearce Motor Sales at 130 Simcoe St.
He served as Deputy Reeve for Tillsonburg in 1956 and Reeve from 1957-1959. He was elected Warden on January 20, 1959 on the 13th ballot, following a tie-breaking vote. During his time as Warden, he ensured free adult polio clinics for the public.
E.R. Pearce would pass away in 1971, and is buried in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
