1960: Donald Hossack
Donald Hossack, Embro
Donald Hossack was born in Thamesford, Ontario in 1927, and worked on his family farm until he joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 17. He served on the aircraft carrier HMCS Warrior in the Atlantic. Upon his return from the navy, he married his sweetheart Doris Fennell, and worked at Wallace Brothers Limited as a lumber yard foreman in Embro.
He serve as a Councillor on the Embro Town Council from 1955-1957 and was elected Reeve from 1958-1960. He was elected Warden on January 19, 1960 on the 6th ballot at the age of thirty-two, and is believe to be the youngest Warden in the history of the County.
In 1963, Don and his family moved to Mesa, Arizona, where he began working for O’Malley Lumber Company, until his retirement in 1990. He passed away on January 29, 2015.
