1966: Hugh Munro
Hugh Munro, East Nissouri
Kenneth Hugh Munro was born in 1927 and lived in Uniondale, with his wife, Mildred (nee Tobin) where they raised five children. He was a partner with Hutton Transport Company, where he worked for thirty-five years.
He served as Deputy Reeve for East Nissouri Township from 1963-1964 and as Reeve from 1965-1966. In 1966, he was elected County Warden, after winning a tie-breaking vote after the 9th ballot had deadlocked.
He served on the County Council Finance Committee as Chairman and also served on the Roads Committee, Centennial Committee and the Committee appointed to select the County Construction Safety Inspector.
Hugh was a member of the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority for a number of years representing the township and then acting as Chairman of the Board. A member of the East Nissouri Church, Hugh Munro passed away in 2001 and is buried in the St. Marys Cemetery.
