1968: Glen Kitchen
Glen Kitchen, East Oxford
Glen Erle Kitchen owned a 240 acre farm at Currie and was an Inspector for Canada Packers. He was first elected to East Oxford Township Council in 1951 and served as Reeve for the Township from 1964-1968. On January 16, 1968 he was elected Warden on the 5th ballot. In doing so, he was the first Reeve from East Oxford Township elected Warden since 1936.
In 1969, he was named East Oxford Township Clerk-Treasurer. In addition to, he was Director of the Woodstock Fair Board, and was secretary of the former Woodstock Milk Producers’ Association. Over the years he worked for Shur-grain and operated Glen Erle Farms, and was involved in several organizations including Curries United Church and Blenheim Masonic Lodge.
Glen would pass away at his home in Curries at the age of 94, in 2017, and is buried in the East Oxford Pioneer Cemetery, in Oxford Centre.
