1970: Stanley Gehring

  

Stanley Gehring, South Norwich

Born in 1911, Stanley R. Gehring was a Tobacco farmer, on RR2 near Otterville and was South Norwich Township’s first Deputy Reeve in 1963. He served as Deputy Reeve from 1963-1965 and as Reeve from 1996-1971. He was elected as County Warden on January 20, 1970 on the 6th ballot. 

He served as a committee member of the Ontario Flue – Cured Tobacco Growers Marking Board and was a member and Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Independent Order of Oddfellows of Otterville, District No. 7. In addition he was actively involved with the Otter Creek Conservation Authority and was a member of the Otterville United Church. 

Stanley Gehring passed away in 1992 and is buried in the Otterville Cemetery.
